The
village with a population of only one thousand inhabitants is situated on Skånevik
fjord and is surrounded by rugged hills
covered in beautiful forest.
The townsfolk
rely on several means for incomes with industry and service being the being the
largest.
Cultural events are many and varied on the yearly calendar with Torgdagane,
Jakt-, fiske-,
og turdagane and

Skånevik Blues Festival being the
biggest and
most well known. The town
has excellent facilities including a Retirement village, Health
center, Sports hall with
climbing wall, both indoorand outdoor football fields, school facilities
catering for
children up to sixteen years of age as well as kindergarten,
church, supermarket
and a modern hotel.
